The staff is here to make sure that UUCPA runs as smoothly as possible, enabling each minister and volunteer to do the best job they can with the resources we have available. As a person using staff resources, remember that advance planning on your part will help you have a rewarding experience.

The Bulletin

The Bulletin is published every two weeks by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Palo Alto (UUCPA) and is available on the web site or mailed free to members by request. Nonmembers and visitors may receive The Bulletin free for three months. Ask a Greeter on Sunday morning at the Information Table. After three months, the subscription rate for non-members is $40 per year.

How to submit articles
We welcome contributions to the Bulletin. Articles are accepted until the Sunday before the Friday publication. If you know of any activity coming up, submit the information to Articles can also be taken to the church office. Place it in the Bulletin mail cubbyhole in the office lobby. Articles sent to also go to the web site. Please include your name so we can call you if we have a question. Articles are limited to 250 words or less.

We have established a policy of not printing personal home phone numbers or email addresses in the Bulletin since it is published on the world wide web via the church’s web site. We encourage everyone to get a email address. (UUCPA E-mail Addresses) This is an address that can be distributed on the world-wide web,

If you want only to put your name as the contact, someone doesn't have the church directory, can be directed to call the church office for the phone number.

The Order of Service submissions

The Office accepts input to the Sunday Order of Service until the Monday before the Service. Announcements are limited to 125 words or less. Inserts are also due the Monday before the Service. If you submit an insert, you are asked to help fold and stuff the Order of Service on Sunday Morning. Email for the Order of Service submissions is Also see Sunday Announcements


Forms needed to request payment, request a room, etc. are in the top drawer of the lateral file under the window.

Checks (including honorarium) or Request for Payment

Submit requests 7 to 10 business days before payment is made. All checks require two signatures, and only one is a staff signature. NO checks will be printed ON DEMAND. Forms for requests for payment are available in the Church Office. Please attach receipts for reimbursements. Request for Payment Form

Childcare Requests

Childcare Requests must be submitted at least two (2) weeks in advance of an event so that childcare workers can be engaged. Childcare workers are paid for the requested time, whether or not there are children brought to them. Email

Church Directories

Church Directories are $.50 and and are located just inside the office door. If we are out, put your name on a light blue card, deposit your money, and we will mail one to you. Directories are updated every one or two months. Send any corrections or updates to

Lost and Found

Lost and Found is in the bottom drawer of the lateral file under the window.


Mailboxes for the Board, Planning and Program Council members as well as some committees and the Music Director are in the front room behind the receptionist's desk.

No Mailbox?

For individuals or committees who do not have a mailbox, there are alphabetical files in the top drawer of the lateral file under the window.

Room Requests


Room requests should be made with the office by completing a Room Request form. Advanced notice is appreciated. Set-up requests should be made at the time of the room reservation. – to schedule rooms


Room Requests are to be submitted no later than 10 business days before the event, and no earlier than 4 months before the event. Set-up requests should be made at the time of the room reservation.

Room Set-up

Room set-up should be turned into the Facilities coordinator at least 2 weeks before the function. We recommend that you talk to Danny Daye, the custodian, at that time. He has a lot of experience with set-ups for different sizes and types of functions.

Main Patio Space

Main Patio Space, tables or paper easels would be cleared with the office at least one week before you want to set up in an area.

Sunday Announcement

Send an email to to have a Sunday morning announcement considered.

Supplies Requests

Supplies Requests are to be submitted 10 business days before the supplies are needed to give the office time to check prices, order, and have them delivered. Email

Used Printer Cartridges

Used cartridges may be placed in the recycle box in the office.

Web Site

The web site is updated weekly on Sunday or Monday.

We have established a policy of not printing personal home phone numbers or email addresses on the the church’s web site.  You can easily get a something (or somebody) email address which will protect you from spam or other intrusions.  The address is automatically forwarded to your personal address.  If someone wants to reach an individual and they don’t have the church directory, they are directed to call the church office for the phone number.
