Professional Childcare is available for infants and toddlers from 9:00 to 12:30 each Sunday during the regular church year, and from 10:00 to 12:00 during the summer.
From August through mid-June, worship services are held at 9:30 and 11:00 a.m., with Sunday school during the 9:30 service. From mid-June through July, summer services and summer Sunday school both take place at 10:30.
Your child is always welcome to stay with you during the worship service. There are children's activity packets (i.e., crayons and religious symbols to color) available in the Foyer; ushers can direct you. If during the service your child becomes restless, you may be more comfortable moving to the Foyer just behind the Main Hall where you can still see and hear the service.
In our Sunday school classes, we have four big goals. We want children to have fun and feel they are part of a community. We want children to gain the basic religious literacy expected in our society. We want children to learn the skills associated with liberal religion, things such as public speaking, singing, basic leadership skills, interpersonal skills, etc. And finally, we aim to prepare children to become Unitarian Universalist adults, should they choose to become Unitarian Universalists when they are old enough to make their own decisions.
Some people dress up and some people dress casually. Wear what feels comfortable to you. On any day you may ask at the CRE Table about study topics for that day or term, since some class curricula regularly invite some messy fun – especially those that focus on earth awareness and creative expression through art/dance/stories.
